Meet Laurie Beechner

Laurie Beechner is licensed to practice law in Florida and New York and is a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Civil Mediator. She focuses her practice on mediating disputes and advising businesses on internal investigations, records retention programs, and the development of internal protocols.

Before becoming a mediator and consultant, Laurie was a practicing civil lawyer for 26 years.  She devoted 11 years as a civil litigator for both small and major law firms, representing several companies in the areas of medical malpractice, premises liability, negligent security, entertainment law, theme park law, products liability and general negligence. In this role, she evaluated cases and made recommendations to her clients on how to resolve disputes. Likewise, she provided advice to clients on their overall exposure for cases as well as settlement authority amounts. Laurie utilized those skills as a litigator to go on to work as an in-house lawyer for United Parks & Resorts, a publicly traded company in the local area, for almost 16 years.

Most recently, Laurie served as the company’s Deputy General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Litigation as well as the Assistant Corporate Secretary. During her tenure, she led the company’s litigation strategy and managed a broad portfolio of matters, including but not limited to, class actions, derivative actions, government investigations, and consumer litigation, across twelve locations and multiple jurisdictions. She attended hundreds of mediations and settlement conferences on the company’s behalf and advised local business units on effective negotiation and communication strategies. She was also responsible for overseeing and attending trials for the company and assisted with trial preparation.

Laurie has evaluated and performed critical analysis of several different types of matters and has provided advice on early resolution measures. Additionally, Laurie developed and maintained the company’s record retention program, drafted hundreds of safety and operational protocols, spearheaded a project to standardize company protocols and to house them all on one site, and also conducted several investigations of current and former employees.
